mupen64plus for Mac OSX

Mupen64Plus is a cross-platform plugin-based N64 emulator which is capable of accurately playing many games. Features include two OpenGL video plugins with Hi-resolution texture support, LIRC Infrared remote control support, Rumble Pak support, cheat system with gameshark code support, and speed adjustment with smooth sound output.

Installing & Using mupen64plus Via Terminal

 1. Extract the x86_32 (32-bit) or x86_64 (64-bit) folder from the
     mupen64plus-mac archive into your Applications folder.
 2. Download all the Roms you want into any folder.
 3. Open Terminal.app from the Utilities folder.
 4. Type 'cd' then drag and drop the mupen64plus file located in the
     'x86-32/64->mupen64plus.app->Contents->MacOS' folder.
 5. Add 'Contents/MacOS' to the end of the line then press Return.
 6. Type './mupen64plus' then drag and drop the game you want to
     play into the Terminal and press Return.
 7. To start the game in fullscreen mode, press Space then type
     '--fullscreen' at the end of the command in number 6. 

Installing & Using mupen64plus Via Applescript

 1. Open the Script Editor located in 'Applications->Utilities'.
 2. Copy and paste the following code into the window:

     

 3. Save the file as 'Mupen Launcher' and select 'Application' as the file format.
 4. Double-click on 'Mupen Launcher' to run it.

Using a game controller with mupen64plus

Connecting a PS3 controller:
 1. Reset the PS3 controller by inserting a paperclip into the pinhole near the L2 button.
 2. Go to 'Apple Menu->System Preferences->Bluetooth' and make sure Bluetooth is enabled.
 3. Connect the controller to your computer using the mini-USB cable.
 4. Press the circular PS button.
 5. Wait for the controller to pair with your Mac.
 6. You should now see 'PLAYSTATION (r) 3 Controller' in the Devices list with 'Connected'
     underneath that.
 7. Disconnect the mini-USB cable from your computer.

Connecting a PS4 controller:
 1. To use a wired PS4 controller, simply connect it to your Mac with the USB cable and
     you're ready to go.
 2. To setup a PS4 controller wirelessly, go to 'Apple Menu->System Preferences->Bluetooth'
     and make sure Bluetooth is enabled.
 3. Hold down the PS button and the Share button at the same time until the light at the top
     starts blinking quickly.
 4. Wait for the controller to pair with your Mac.
 5. You should now see 'Wireless Controller' or 'PLAYSTATION (r) 4 Controller' in the Devices
     list with 'Connected' underneath that.

Connecting an XBox 360 controller:
 1. To connect a wired XBox 360 controller to your mac, you will need to install the
     360Controller driver.
 2. Extract the '360ControllerInstall.dmg' file from the mupen64plus-mac arhive.
 3. Start the installation package to install the driver.
 4. Restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
